Miami Dolphins wide receiver Allen Hurns signed a two-year extension that will keep him under contract through the 2021 season, the team announced Saturday. Hurns, who grew up in Miami and played for the hometown Hurricanes in college, has recorded 13 receptions for 170 yards and a touchdown in eight games this season. Hurns caught 20 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games before sustaining a dislocated left ankle and broken fibula in the NFC wild-card game against Seattle on Jan. 5. The Dallas Cowboys have become increasingly reliant on the right arm of Dak Prescott, and for good reason. Prescott is completing his throws at a career-high 68.3-percent rate. The Detroit Lions also have an accomplished quarterback having a career season in Matthew Stafford, but he has been ruled out with a back injury for Sunday's contest against the visiting Cowboys. Detroit Lions rookie running back Ty Johnson has cleared concussion protocol and is eligible to play in Sunday's home game against the Dallas Cowboys. Johnson sustained a concussion during Detroit's 20-13 loss to the Chicago Bears last Sunday. The 22-year-old Johnson, who has 44 carries for 153 yards this season, was elevated to the role of starter after running back Kerryon Johnson was placed on injured reserve last month. Dallas was among teams reportedly considering a last-minute arrival but Jones nixed that idea, telling radio station KRLD, "We're not going to have anybody there." Continue to Article

Dallas
The Dallas Cowboys had a friendly home crowd and a prime-time audience on Sunday night — and just about everyone who watched them drop a critical game against the Minnesota Vikings blamed the fourth-down play calling. With less than two minutes left in the game, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw to tailback Ezekiel Elliott on a gotta-have-it fourth and 5 — right after Elliott ran for no gain on second and 2 and lost three yards on third and 2. NFL watchers everywhere are second-guessing head coach Jason Garrett and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, saying they called the wrong pass play, called too many runs to set up the pass play or shouldn't have trusted Elliott a third time in a row.
