Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Tommy Hunter underwent season-ending surgery on the flexor tendon in his pitching forearm on Tuesday, manager Gabe Kapler told reporters. The surgery was performed by noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, who found no damage to Hunter's ulnar collateral ligament. Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff is headed to the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique muscle. Woodruff, a first-time All-Star this season, left his start in Phoenix against the Arizona Diamondbacks two pitches into the fourth inning Sunday with what the team described a few innings later as abdominal discomfort. One of the Milwaukee Brewers' best surprises of the year has been Brandon Woodruff, who became the team's first starting pitcher to earn an All-Star nod in over a decade. Woodruff exited Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a left oblique injury that will require a trip to the 10-day injured list, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt.
