Baltimore slugged three early home runs to support the successful return of starting pitcher Dylan Bundy from the injured list as the Orioles beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-2 Tuesday night in Phoenix. Renato Nunez, Anthony Santander and Dwight Smith Jr. homered in the first three innings off Merrill Kelly (7-10), helping stake Bundy to a 7-2 lead. Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Tommy Hunter underwent season-ending surgery on the flexor tendon in his pitching forearm on Tuesday, manager Gabe Kapler told reporters. The surgery was performed by noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, who found no damage to Hunter's ulnar collateral ligament. Woodruff, a first-time All-Star this season, left his start in Phoenix against the Arizona Diamondbacks two pitches into the fourth inning Sunday with what the team described a few innings later as abdominal discomfort. One of the Milwaukee Brewers' best surprises of the year has been Brandon Woodruff, who became the team's first starting pitcher to earn an All-Star nod in over a decade. Woodruff exited Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a left oblique injury that will require a trip to the 10-day injured list, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt.
