Phoenix
On Monday morning I was talking to a friend who said, "The beauty of the NBA is that if you’re a dysfunctional franchise, you’re only going to get jokes for a couple of weeks because someone will outdo you." That's a good way to think about the Bulls and Suns. Last Monday, the Bulls fired Fred Hoiberg. From Tuesday to Friday, the Suns lost three games by a combined 56 points. Continue to Article

Phoenix
In years past, San Antonio has exceled as one of the top defensive teams in the NBA and a return to those tenets will be the cornerstone on which the new-look Spurs will build its foundation. San Antonio accomplished the latter for the first time in a month on Sunday in a victory over Utah, and can get back to the former on Tuesday when it hosts the league's worst team - the hapless Phoenix Suns - at the AT&T Center in the Alamo City. Tobias Harris scored 33 points and Patrick Beverley made two free throws with 33.3 seconds left in overtime to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 123-119 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. Avery Bradley sealed the Clippers' 17th victory of the season with a pair of free throws with 1.6 seconds left, after he hustled to control a loose ball off jump ball and was fouled. Danilo Gallinari scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half and Harris added eight rebounds. Continue to Article

San Antonio
Shortly after the Bulls fired Fred Hoiberg and promoted Jim Boylen to head coach, Boylen said Chicago players weren’t in shape. Zach LaVine and Justin Holiday were the most vocal, sources said. Boylen repeatedly referenced his days on the San Antonio Spurs staff and instances in which coach Gregg Popovich pulled all five players off the floor to send a message, sources said. San Antonio
The San Antonio Spurs are starting to feel better about their play, which is a welcome sign for the former defensive stalwarts following a series of blowout losses. DeMar DeRozan had 26 points and eight assists and Rudy Gay added 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Spurs to a 110-97 victory over the Utah Jazz on Sunday night. Donovan Mitchell scored 27 points for Utah, which had its two-game winning streak snapped. Continue to Article
