Giancarlo Stanton hit a mammoth solo homer in the fifth inning, J.A. Happ pitched six solid innings and the New York Yankees beat the Texas Rangers 7-3 Thursday night at Yankee Stadium. Stanton homered for the third straight game when he hammered a 1-1 fastball from rookie Ariel Jurado (2-2) into the lower rows of the left-field bleachers. Joey Gallo hit two home runs and had four RBIs as the Texas Rangers defeated the visiting Seattle Mariners 11-7 Wednesday afternoon to take two of three games in the series. 5-7 hitters, Gallo, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ronald Guzman, each had three hits to pace a 19-hit attack. Blue Jays infielder Brandon Drury is going back on the disabled list, this time for a broken left hand that occurred before he was traded from the New York Yankees to Toronto. The New York Yankees won't see Jacoby Ellsbury at all this season after the outfielder underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left hip to repair a torn labrum, the team announced Tuesday. Clearwater took advantage of a rule introduced this year that places a runner at second base at the start of each extra inning to cut down on marathon games.
