A look at what's happening all around the majors today: BACK IN THE BOX Shohei Ohtani is expected back in the starting lineup for the first time since taking a perfect game into the seventh inning against Oakland on Sunday. The two-way Japanese star has homered in his last three games as a designated hitter for the Angels, the spot he'll likely fill at Texas. Ohtani didn't play Monday and grounded out as a pinch hitter Tuesday night against Bartolo Colon as Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia sticks to his plan of carefully monitoring the newcomer's workload. Ohtani's next turn on the mound will be Sunday at Kansas City. HOME IMPROVEMENT? The White Sox will try to avoid the worst home start in Continue to Article

The Mets mounted multiple rallies on Tuesday night to fuel a come-from-behind victory over the Marlins en route to their seventh straight win. After the Mets squandered a 3-1 lead in the fifth and fell behind 4-3, the offense responded in the next half-inning by tying the game thanks to aggressive baserunning by Todd Frazier and a sacrifice fly by Juan Lagares. Yoenis Cespedes overcame flu-like symptoms and capped off the Mets' rally in the top of the ninth inning when he cracked a double down the left field line to plate Amed Rosario and Michael Conforto, which gave the Mets an 8-6 lead before Jeurys Familia closed the game with his sixth save of the season. "Guys just come in focused and put Continue to Article

Matt Harvey wasn't shy about his expectations for the Mets before the season, saying they were going to "shock" people. And he was clear after the Mets swept the Nationals on Sunday night that he feels the team has sent a message not just to the Nats, but to the league. "Coming in here and doing what we did, that's incredibly important," Harvey said. "And the way that we pulled out the win today and kept battling and kept fighting -- it shows a lot about this team and what we're about. I think we're sending a message, not only to the guys across the locker room here, but all of baseball."  Danny Abriano, SNY.tv | Twitter | The fact that the Mets' 7-1 start happened for the most part without Conforto Continue to Article

Things you should know about tonight's game... 1) Yoenis Cespedes pulled a two-run double off Marlins third baseman Brian Anderson in the top of the ninth inning to snap a 6-6 tie. The Mets had jumped out to a 3-0 lead on an RBI double by Wilmer Flores, an RBI single by Michael Conforto and the first of two Asdrubal Cabrera solo home runs.  2) Jacob deGrom took a 3-0 lead into the fifth inning before allowing four runs, the last two coming on Justin Bour's two-run homer in the game. The right-hander scattered seven hits, walked one and struck out six. Two of the four hits deGrom allowed in the fifth did not leave the infield. 3) The Mets rallied to tie the game both times after falling behind. Juan Continue to Article

The Mets have called up RHP Corey Oswalt and optioned OF Brandon Nimmo to Triple-A Las Vegas -- a move manager Mickey Callaway referred to as a "tough break." "He deserves to be here," Callaway said before Tuesday night's game in Miami. "He handled the news unbelievably. What a guy. He's a winning player and he's gonna help us for a long, long time. It's tough, but we felt like it was necessary." Callaway added that a need to get Nimmo at-bats was a concern, as was maintaining the health of the bullpen. "I think a little bit of that was our concern," Callaway said about Nimmo's playing time. "He wasn't getting to play as much as he probably needs to play. This kid is gonna be an everyday player, Continue to Article
