ARLINGTON, Tex. — As Phillies players showered, dressed and hurried off for the bus to the airport late Thursday afternoon, Freddy Galvis lingered in front of his locker and stewed in the juices of the team's 15th loss in the last 18 games. "It sucks, man," Galvis said. "That's the truth. If somebody says it's OK, it's not OK. We're (bleeping) losing a lot of games." The latest was an 8-4 loss to the Texas Rangers (see Instant Replay). Now, the Rangers are smokin' hot. They've won nine in a row, averaging 6.5 runs and posting a 2.66 ERA over that span. While it's true that they caught the Rangers at a bad time, the Phils didn't exactly play good baseball while getting swept in Texas. They were Continue to Article

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Ryan Rua hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the fifth inning and the Texas Rangers stretched their MLB-best winning streak to nine games with an 8-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. The Rangers swept through an eight-game homestand against three teams, only their second time in franchise history to do that. Their overall winning streak, which started with an 11-0 win at San Diego on May 9, is the longest in the majors this season. Philadelphia led 2-0 before Robinson Chirinos and Rougned Odor had consecutive two-out RBI singles off reliever Joely Rodriguez (1-2) in the fifth. Rua followed with his third homer, lining a shot that just cleared the 8-foot Continue to Article

A South Korean court on Thursday upheld a suspended prison sentence for Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Jung Ho Kang over a drunken driving conviction, a ruling that may complicate his plans to rejoin the National League baseball team this season. The Seoul Central District Court dismissed Kang's appeal of a suspended two-year prison sentence over charges of fleeing the scene after crashing a car into the guardrail while driving drunk, a court official said. The court official didn't want to be named, citing office rules. Continue to Article

A Seoul court has dismissed Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Kang Jung-ho's appeal against a drunk driving sentence and upheld an eight-month suspended jail term imposed in March, local media reported on Thursday. Kang, who had two previous convictions for drunk driving, was charged with driving while intoxicated and fleeing the scene of an accident after his car crashed into a guardrail in the Gangnam district of Seoul in the early hours of Dec. 2. Kang's sentence was suspended for two years, meaning he will avoid imprisonment if he stays out of trouble, but he had appealed the decision in a bid to have the sentence reduced to a fine.
