Edmonton Oilers
Despite the Edmonton Oilers losing their first playoff game since Game 7 of the 2006 Stanley Cup Final, one couple went home very, very, very happy. David and Tanya Idzan probably weren’t fans of Melker Karlsson’s overtime goal that gave the San Jose Sharks a Game 1 victory, but the $336,995 CA ($254,640 USD) going into their bank account would certainly help get them over the loss. So much for Henrik Lundqvist not being able to beat the Montreal Canadiens. Edmonton Oilers
Despite an overtime loss, two Edmonton Oilers fans left the team's first playoff game in more than a decade with smiles on their face. David and Tanya Idzan went home from the Oilers' 3-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks with $254,640 ($336,995 Canadian). The two fans, who have been season ticket holders for seven seasons, won the 50/50 raffle in which 50 percent of the pot goes to a lucky fan that wins a drawing and 50 percent goes to the team's charity. "We buy $40 worth of raffles every game," David Idzan told ESPN on Thursday, after he deposited the check at the bank. "We bought $80 last night." The prize was one of the biggest 50/50 prizes in sports history, many of which have happened in Edmonton. Continue to Article

Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers played their first playoff game in over 10 years on Wednesday night, losing in overtime to the San Jose Sharks in Game 1 of their Pacific Division semifinal. It’s been a while since they tasted the sweet nectar of playoff revenue, and clearly the Oilers wanted to chug it while they can. Continue to Article
