By the slimmest of margins, the Detroit Pistons remain in playoff contention, but nothing about their play over the past four weeks suggests they have any sincere interest in extending their season. By blowing a 20-point lead at home in their 105-102 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night, the Pistons (35-43) essentially sealed their postseason fate. Damian Lillard and the Blazers came from behind for a huge win. If the Blazers go on to clinch the West’s final playoff spot, this win and its fourth–quarter comeback could end up as one of the biggest reasons why. Portland struggled mightily to contain Karl-Anthony Towns (24 points and 16 rebounds) and Andrew Wiggins (36 points) over the first three quarters and trailed by as many as 15 in the third and by seven heading into the fourth. The Cleveland Cavaliers went from a train wreck to the verge of clinching first place in the Eastern Conference. First, the Cavs pounded the Celtics 114-91 on Wednesday night to take a one-game lead over Boston. Then the Celtics lost to the Atlanta Hawks, 123-116, on Thursday, which bumped the Cavs' lead to 1 1/2 games. Continue to Article

With four straight wins, including a 114-91 walkover against the Celtics to wrestle back control atop the Eastern Conference, the Cavs may be gelling just in time for the NBA playoffs and a run at a second straight title.
