Miami Hurricanes
Despite the Miami Hurricanes' many accomplishments during the Jim Larranaga era, they haven't beaten a Top 25 opponent in March since he became coach. This week the No. 25 Hurricanes are ranked for the first time all season, and they close out the regular season Saturday at No. 15 Florida State. "It's not that I don't like the quick turnaround," freshman forward Jonathan Isaac told Seminoles.com after Florida State's 80-66 upset loss Saturday, dropping them to 2-6 in ACC road games this season. Florida State Seminoles
Xavier Rathan-Mayes' maturation as a point guard has been one of the overlooked aspects to Florida State's success so far this season. The 6-foot-4 junior is third on the 17th-ranked Seminoles (21-6, 9-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per game, but he is fourth in the conference in assist-turnover ratio (2.6-to-1) and fifth in assists (4.7 per game). Rathan-Mayes said he has been pleased about the progress this season, but acknowledges there is still more that has to be made. Continue to Article
