Scott Darling's 6-foot-6 frame was awfully handy Friday night. Darling had a season-high 39 saves, kicking out his long legs for a couple key stops, and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 for their second straight win. One team will be coming off a big win and the other a long rest when the Washington Capitals visit the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday. The Capitals accomplished what no team could in the month of December when they stopped the Columbus Blue Jackets winning streak at 16 games Thursday. The intermission Mites on Ice game is one of the most entertaining parts of your evening while attending a hockey game. After beating the goalie short side during intermission of Thursday night’s Washington Capitals game at Verizon Center, he wanted to celebrate, and celebrate he did.
