Mason contributed 31 points, 11 assists and six rebounds on Sunday, and Minnesota pulled away in overtime for a 91-82 Big Ten victory against No, 15 Purdue in Mackey Arena. The primary school of thought when playing No. 15 Purdue is to attempt to contain post players Caleb Swanigan and Isaac Haas while gambling that the Boilermaker guards won't make enough perimeter shots to produce a victory. Iowa adhered to that strategy Wednesday night in each team's Big Ten opener, and paid dearly for the risk. When star freshman Lonzo Ball arrived at UCLA, Aaron Holiday lost his starting point guard job. Holiday showed Saturday he can provide the surging Bruins with a needed boost off the bench.
