While we didn’t have a Wayne Gretzky “Waikiki Hockey” sighting, we were surprised at how many Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks games were on at bars and around hotels. At our hotel in Maui, NHL Network (!!!) was the de facto channel on the bar’s main television. NHL Network. It was pretty cool, as it was cool to meet some of the puckheads on vacation as well. The Washington Capitals have been a bit inconsistent of late - just not against the Buffalo Sabres. T.J. Oshie had a goal and an assist, Philipp Grubauer made 27 saves and the Capitals beat the Sabres 4-1 on Friday night. Jakub Vrana, John Carlson and Marcus Johansson also scored for the Capitals, who have beaten the Sabres three times in 15 days, including twice during their current three-game winning streak - Washington is 1-2-1 against all other teams since beating Buffalo on Nov. 25. Former Baylor football coach Art Briles sued three school regents and a vice president for libel and slander, accusing them of falsely stating he knew of reported assaults and alleged gang rapes by players and didn't report them.
