Reports that New England Patriots third-string quarterback Jacoby Brissett suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb and likely would need surgery may have been premature. Brissett was injured in Thursday's 27-0 victory over the Houston Texans, but multiple media outlets reported that the diagnosis is not as bad as initially feared. The reason for the dramatic turnaround is Doug Pederson's offensive philosophy is the opposite of Chip Kelly's up-tempo, no-huddle style.
