Félix Hernández pitched 5 1/3 innings in likely his final start with the Seattle Mariners after 15 seasons, but it was the Oakland Athletics moving to the brink of clinching an AL wild-card berth with a 3-1 win on Thursday night. Hernández walked off the mound as a Mariner probably for the last time with tears in his eyes. Matt Chapman hit a two-run homer and Sean Manaea pitched six strong innings as the Oakland Athletics spoiled what was likely Felix Hernandez's final start in a Mariners uniform, defeating host Seattle 3-1 Thursday night. The A's (96-63) extended their lead over Tampa Bay for the American League's top wild-card playoff berth to a full game and moved three games ahead of Cleveland with three to play. In front of a tepid crowd of 13,853 at Rogers Centre on Wednesday, Rowdy Tellez earned himself a minor milestone. Faced with an 0-2 slider from Gabriel Ynoa in the fourth inning of a 3-2 Blue Jays win, the 24-year-old launched a ball well over the right field wall for his 20th home run of the season.
