Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the New York Mets are looking at a myriad of scenarios that would culminate in a blockbuster deal sending Noah Syndergaard to the San Diego Padres while acquiring enough of a return to land Stroman from the Blue Jays in a separate deal. Paul Goldschmidt homered for a fifth consecutive game, his three-run blast in the eighth inning lifting the St. Louis Cardinals to a 5-3 victory over the visiting Houston Astros on Friday. Five-time All-Star Troy Tulowitzki announced his retirement on Thursday after injuries again derailed another season.
