Seattle Mariners infielder Tim Lopes was placed on the seven-day concussion list on Friday, one day after being hit in the left side of his face with a pitch by Detroit Tigers right-hander Drew VerHagen. Lopes was staggered by the pitch but remained in the game for two more innings before departing after the sixth inning. Manager Scott Servais said after Thursday's game that Lopes was hit in the jaw. Tim Beckham hit a grand slam as the Seattle Mariners won consecutive games for the first time in a month by defeating the visiting Detroit Tigers 10-2 on Thursday night. Texas Rangers All-Star outfielder Joey Gallo underwent surgery on his right wrist on Thursday to repair a broken hamate bone, and he will miss at least four weeks, the team announced. Gallo had played through pain in the wrist all month. X-rays on Tuesday night and an MRI exam on Wednesday prompted the Rangers to send Gallo home for the surgical procedure. Continue to Article
