Nationals shortstop Trea Turner stole the spotlight on Tuesday, hitting for the cycle for the second time in his career against Colorado. Not only did he become the 26th player in major-league history to hit for the cycle multiple times in his career, but he's the first hitter in franchise history to accomplish the extremely rare feat. The dynamic 26-year-old speedster hasn't lived up to the lofty preseason expectations of fantasy owners who envisioned a potential 20-plus homer, 50-plus stolen base monster, but he's been an extremely productive five-category impact contributor, hitting .282 (68-for-241) with 38 runs scored, 29 extra-base hits (five home runs), 21 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 56 games since coming off the injured list on May 17. The Boston Red Sox activated first baseman Mitch Moreland from the 10-day injured list and sent down infielder Marco Hernandez to Triple-A Pawtucket before Tuesday's game at the Tampa Bay Rays. Forbes released its annual ranking of the 50 most valuable franchises in sports this week, and three Boston teams -- the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox -- made the list. The Boston Bruins did not make the list, but neither did any other NHL franchise. The Celtics came in at No. 22 (tied with the NFL's Houston Texans) with a value of $2.8 billion. Continue to Article

J.D. Martinez, Andrew Benintendi and Sam Travis clouted homers in a seven-run third inning, and Eduardo Rodriguez fired seven innings of two-hit, shutout ball to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 9-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night in St. Petersburg, Fla. The three-homer barrage occurred after Rafael Devers opened the scoring in the third with a two-RBI double. Rodriguez (12-4) gave up only infield singles to Guillermo Heredia and Michael Brosseau, and he didn't allow a Rays player to reach second base. Continue to Article
