Chicago White Sox left-hander Carlos Rodon will undergo Tommy John surgery on Wednesday with the procedure likely sidelining him through the first half of the 2020 season. In addition, White Sox right-handed reliever Nate Jones underwent season-ending surgery on Monday to repair a flexor tear in his pitching forearm. It should have been obvious after Sunday's gem, but left-hander Cole Irvin has earned another start for the Phillies. Irvin will face the Rockies at home on Friday night, manager Gabe Kapler said Monday. David Robertson will be shut down a little while longer after second opinion from Dr. James Andrews originally appeared on A "visit with Dr. James Andrews" often means bad injury news in the sports world, but the Phillies are characterizing reliever David Robertson's appointment with him Monday as a positive one. Robertson, out since April 15 with a strain in his right elbow/forearm, got a second opinion from the renowned sports orthopedist and the goal is for the injury to heal naturally. As the ball sailed to the left-field bleachers, Willson Contreras spun and tossed his bat toward the Cubs' dugout. The celebration was a long time coming, following a nine-inning stretch of scoreless ball in the Cubs' longest-ever home game against the Brewers.
