One day after his second blown save of the young season, Texas Rangers right-hander Jose Leclerc will be removed from his role as closer, at least temporarily, the team disclosed. Manager Chris Woodward said the change was needed after Leclerc posted an 8.44 ERA in 13 appearances to start the season. Earlier this week, the Blue Jays world got in a tizzy thanks to arguably the top MLB reporter alive, Ken Rosenthal, saying the following on MLB Network: “It's going to be really interesting to watch the Jays over the next few months because what I believe they're going to do – what I'm told they're going to do – is try to trade [Marcus] Stroman, [Aaron] Sanchez, [Justin] Smoak and others to get more young talent in Vladdy's age range and service class and then build up that way. Randal Grichuk had three hits and two RBIs, Aaron Sanchez pitched five strong innings and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting Oakland Athletics 7-1 on Saturday.
