Five-time NBA All-Star guard John Wall of the Washington Wizards will be sidelined for a year after suffering a ruptured left Achilles tendon, the team announced Tuesday. The 28-year-old playmaker, the first overall choice in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Wizards, slipped and fell in his home to rupture the tendon. Wall underwent an initial surgery upon the tendon last month aimed at preventing a tear and was to miss six to eight months as a result after being ruled out for the season December 29. Mike Conley returned from a minor knee injury and scored 25 points Sunday afternoon as the Memphis Grizzlies dominated the second half of a 96-84 victory over the New York Knicks, whose home losing streak reached a team-record 14 games. Conley sat out Friday's loss in Charlotte with left knee soreness and was questionable for Sunday but returned and helped Memphis win for the third time in their last 20 games since Dec. 26.
