Miami Dolphins wide receiver Allen Hurns signed a two-year extension that will keep him under contract through the 2021 season, the team announced Saturday. Hurns, who grew up in Miami and played for the hometown Hurricanes in college, has recorded 13 receptions for 170 yards and a touchdown in eight games this season. Detroit Lions rookie running back Ty Johnson has cleared concussion protocol and is eligible to play in Sunday's home game against the Dallas Cowboys. Johnson sustained a concussion during Detroit's 20-13 loss to the Chicago Bears last Sunday. The 22-year-old Johnson, who has 44 carries for 153 yards this season, was elevated to the role of starter after running back Kerryon Johnson was placed on injured reserve last month. Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Friday the team will not send a representative to former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick's private workout in Atlanta. The league has confirmed at least 11 teams will attend Saturday's practice session for Kaepernick, whose kneeling protest became a national issue when US President Donald Trump criticized players for not standing during the playing of the national anthem. Architectural renderings revealed Thursday show a number of proposed changes for the New Orleans Superdome as part of a $450 million renovation, including the addition of standing-room only viewing areas. The Superdome Commission has already approved the first phase of renovations, which will begin after the College Football Playoff Championship Game on Jan. 13, unless the building's main tenant, the New Orleans Saints, plays host to the NFC Championship game on Jan 19. Renovations will take place through the 2023-24 season, with the first wave expected to be in out-of-sight areas like the addition of a large kitchen and food-service area, as well as the construction of alternate building exits.
