After taking a bit of time to mull it over, The Great One has decided not to make his return behind the bench at this winter's Spengler Cup. Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic reported on Tuesday that Wayne Gretzky had been approached by Sean Burke about leading Canada's team at the upcoming tournament. Burke is the general manager for the Canadian entry at what is often referred to as the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world. Continue to Article

SAN JOSE -- Suffice to say, the Sharks don't look like the same team that started a six-game homestand on Nov. 1 with one of the worst records in the NHL. Martin Jones made 21 saves while Erik Karlsson collected three assists for the Sharks, who have won four straight games. San Jose has an 8-0-1 record in its past nine meetings with Edmonton. Tim Heed will file back into the lineup on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers with Mario Ferraro and Dalton Prout not quite ready to return to game action. Continue to Article

Alex Pietrangelo collected one goal and two assists and Jaden Schwartz had a two-point night as the St. Louis Blues ran their winning streak to six games with a 5-2 road win over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night. Goalie Jake Allen made 32 saves in the victory in a showdown between the top two squads in the Western Conference. After the Blues fell behind less than three minutes into the game, Schwartz put the visitors on the board with a power-play goal at 6:02 of the opening frame. Continue to Article
