This is your daily reminder that Connor McDavid exists in a different tier than everyone else. McDavid holds the distinction of being the NHL's best and most watchable player and the Edmonton Oilers superstar turned Arizona Coyotes defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson into a pylon on Monday en route to a highlight-reel goal. McDavid runs a give-and-go with Leon Draisaitl and upon receiving the puck again, looks up at Ekman-Larsson, cuts outside and around the defender in one fell swoop, then darts inside around Coyotes goaltender Darcy Kuemper before depositing the puck into the net. Calgary Flames forward Milan Lucic was suspended two games Sunday for roughing the Columbus Blue Jackets' Kole Sherwood on Saturday. Draisaitl cruised down the left side and remained a step ahead of Pittsburgh winger Alex Galchenyuk. Draisaitl drew a penalty against Galchenyuk, but it didn't matter as the Oilers forward snapped the puck past Matt Murray to end the game. Continue to Article

Being heavily reliant on two players isn't necessarily the worst thing if they're good enough — and the McDavid-Draisaitl duo is as good as it gets — but in the Oilers' case it's involved throwing a ridiculous amount of ice time their way. Draisaitl is the league leader among forwards in TOI at 23:51, McDavid is just behind at 23:23 and the next man on the list, Mark Scheifele, is more than a minute back (22:03). While both players are used to heavy workloads, this is a whole new level — one rarely seen in the modern game. Continue to Article
