Danny Santana delivered a walk-off single with two outs in the ninth inning, plating Elvis Andrus and delivering the Texas Rangers a 9-8 win over the Houston Astros on Friday in Arlington. Texas rallied from a four-run deficit against the Houston bullpen, capping the comeback against Astros closer Roberto Osuna (3-2). Houston
Lance Lynn had more strikes thrown than words used postgame to describe his major league-best 12th victory, one that got the Texas Rangers off to the kind of start their manager had hoped for coming out of the All-Star break. The short answers have become as common for the big right-hander as his impressive outings on the mound. Houston
Lance Lynn matched his season high for strikeouts, and the Texas Rangers opened the second half with a 5-0 victory over the Houston Astros on Thursday at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Lynn surrendered only one extra-base hit, and that came with two outs in the seventh when Astros center fielder George Springer roped a double to the gap in left-center field. The Astros mustered one legitimate threat against Lynn, pushing runners to second and third in the second inning when Texas catcher Jeff Mathis was cited for a passed ball with Robinson Chirinos at the plate and the Rangers leading 4-0. Houston Astros outfielder Jake Marisnick was suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball on Thursday after colliding with Los Angeles Angels catcher Jonathan Lucroy. Marisnick appealed the punishment for the home-plate play in a game Sunday and was thus active for Houston's game Thursday against the Texas Rangers. On the key play, Marisnick was ruled out for violating a rule preventing runners from deviating from the base path to make contact with a fielder. Continue to Article
