Toronto Blue Jays prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made his debut with Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday and showed why many think he is already ready to join the big league club. The third baseman, who is the son of Hall of Fame member Vladimir Guerrero, had a walk, a double and a three-run home run, finishing the night 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs. Guerrero, 20, was sidelined this spring with a left oblique strain and was sent to rehab the injury and start the season with Triple-A Buffalo. Continue to Article

Rafael Devers might be a bit sore after first career Red Sox walk-off originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com Rafael Devers experienced an MLB rite of passage he won't soon forget Thursday night. Devers' chopper over the head of second baseman Lourdes Gurriel Jr. with one out in the ninth inning was a game-winner for the Boston Red Sox, who walked off with a much-needed 7-6 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park. The 43-year-old's initial play at Augusta was encouraging, as he struck the ball beautifully and played the first four holes in one under par, although he did suffer a setback with a bogey at the fifth. This stat paints bleak picture for Red Sox's 2019 postseason hopes originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com The Boston Red Sox did not benefit from a change of scenery in Tuesday's home opener at Fenway Park, falling 7-5 to the Toronto Blue Jays. The loss drops the Red Sox to 3-9 on the season, and they now are alone in last place in the American League East division. There's still a lot of time -- 150 games, to be exact -- for the Red Sox to turn around their season and make a push for the playoffs. Continue to Article

Blue Jays' Clay Buchholz watches Red Sox ring ceremony from other side originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com The baseball gods work in mysterious ways. As members of previous Boston Red Sox World Series championship teams took the field at Fenway Park for Tuesday's ring ceremony, another already was stationed in the visiting dugout: pitcher Clay Buchholz. Manny, Schilling headline former champs at Sox ceremony That's right: The two-time World Series champion signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays in March, and despite beginning the season on the injured list with an elbow strain, he was on hand for Tuesday's game.
