The Florida Panthers and the New York Rangers are seemingly going in opposite directions ... yet they are in virtually the same spot. The Rangers, who decided this past February to trade assets and start a rebuilding process in 2018-2019 with a first-year NHL head coach in David Quinn and a bunch of young players, are 13-11-1 (29 points). The Blackhawks trailed by two goals on two separate occasions and all signs pointed to their road losing streak reaching nine games. The Blackhawks had 31 shot attempts compared to Florida's 10 in the final frame and also generated 18 scoring chances to Florida's four, according to naturalstattrick.com. Continue to Article

Connolly scored the tiebreaking goal on a one-timer from the left circle with 6:24 left in the third period, and the Capitals beat the New York Rangers 5-3 Saturday for their season-high fifth straight win. ''A little bit of open ice,'' Connolly said of his fourth goal of the season. Continue to Article

The New York Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Caps scored three in the second period to put themselves back in it and went on to earn the 5-3 victory in the Big Apple on Saturday. The Caps entered Saturday's game with 32 goals in the second period, tied for the most in the league. The Caps also entered Friday's game down 1-0 and tied it at 1. Continue to Article
