After an unsuccessful appeal to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, the NHLPA has formally filed an appeal on Tom Wilson's behalf to a neutral arbitrator. John Shannon of SportsNet was the first to report the appeal on Friday. Appealing to a neutral arbitrator is now Wilson's last chance to have his suspension reduced and perhaps recoup some of the over $1.2 million in salary he is forfeiting as part of the suspension. The appeal will be heard by Shyam Das, the same arbitrator who reduced Nashville Predators forward Austin Watson's suspension for domestic assault earlier in October. Continue to Article

Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson has adopted this mantra and will now plead his case to an independent arbitrator. The 20-game suspension of Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson will stand, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has ruled. The NHL announced Thursday that Bettman has upheld the suspension, determining that the illegal check to the head of St. Louis Blues forward Oskar Sundqvist in a preseason game was avoidable. Sundqvist sustained a concussion, a right shoulder sprain and facial lacerations in the Sept. 30 game. Continue to Article
