Chandler Hutchison had a career-high 34 points, Marcus Dickinson scored 10 of his career-best 12 points in the final 12 minutes and Boise State overcame an 11-point second-half deficit to beat Utah 73-68 on Tuesday night in an opening-round game of the NIT. Zach Haney had five of his seven points, five rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals in the second half for Boise State (20-11), which has won at least 20 games in each of the last five seasons. Malik Pope tied his career high with 22 points with 10 rebounds, Max Hoetzel had 21 points and San Diego State dominated the second half for an 87-68 win over Boise State on Thursday night in the Mountain West Conference tournament quarterfinals. Hoetzel finished 7 of 8 from the field with five 3s and in two games against BSU went 10-14 from distance. BYU somehow finds itself in the West Coast Conference semifinals and a legitimate challenger against No. 20 Saint Mary's despite having one of the least experienced teams in the nation.
