Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia called Martin Maldonado the star of the game on the defensive side. Maldonado threw out Yuli Gurriel at third base to end the game after an original safe call was reversed on replay, giving the Angels a big 2-0 win Monday night over a division rival that ended the Houston Astros' six-game winning streak. Gurriel singled off Keynan Middleton leading off the ninth inning. Continue to Article

A look at what's happening around the majors Monday: START HIM UP Prized Dodgers prospect Walker Buehler makes his first big league start, taking on visiting Miami. The 23-year-old righty reached the majors last September and had a 7.71 ERA in eight relief appearances. Buehler was a first-round draft pick in 2015. He's getting this chance because starter Rich Hill is on the disabled list with a cracked fingernail. REST HELPS The Cubs are off, meaning slugger Kris Bryant gets to heal from a beaning. He had a cut under his eye after a fastball from Colorado's German Marquez hit off part of his helmet. The team said Bryant passed tests and had no sign of a concussion. The 2016 NL MVP is hitting Continue to Article

Instead, he unsteadily wobbled toward the Cubs' dugout and manager Joe Maddon rushed out to hold him and provide both physical and emotional support. Trainers quickly arrived to examine Bryant, and they decided to remove him from the game. Continue to Article

DENVER -- Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant left Sunday's game in Colorado in the first inning after getting hit in the head by a fastball from Rockies pitcher German Marquez. Bryant's glasses flew off and his helmet spun around on his head as the pitch hit him around the forehead area. He looked woozy as he was helped off the field by the training staff, but passed all concussion-related tests, according to the team. Bryant suffered a small laceration above his left eye from his sunglasses, the team said. He will continue to be monitored.? An ensuing argument, presumably about the intent of the pitch, got Cubs hitting coach Chili Davis ejected from the game. After Davis' ejection, Cubs Continue to Article
