For six years in a row, PepsiCo coughed up millions to run Super Bowl ads for its Pepsi and Doritos brands—until last year. In Super Bowl 51, PepsiCo and its subsidiary Frito-Lay ran no in-game ads for Pepsi or Doritos. Retired basketball superstar Kobe Bryant has become an Oscar nominee for the animated short film “Dear Basketball,” along with animator Glen Keane. The six-minute film is based on a letter Bryant wrote in The Players’ Tribune in 2015, in which he announced his retirement from basketball.
