Pittsburgh Penguins
PITTSBURGH (AP) Phil Kessel‘s 300th career goal at 1:07 of overtime lifted the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 2-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. Kessel, who also scored the overtime winner against Edmonton on Tuesday, became the 18th American-born player to reach 300 career goals and the second active behind Minnesota’s Zach Parise. Kessel, with nine points in his last seven games, snapped a wrist shot between the pads of Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck for the winner. Continue to Article

Of all the storylines that surrounded the Pittsburgh Penguins repeating as champions last season, it might have been lost on most just how resurgent Justin Schultz has been since joining Pittsburgh. It’s easy to forget that he was a legit reclamation project when the Penguins picked him up in a low-risk trade. Pittsburgh Penguins
Considering the end result, it's a trade-off Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins can live with. Challenged repeatedly by coach Mike Sullivan to shoot the puck more, Kessel sprinted down the slot, took a feed from Evgeni Malkin and slipped the puck past Talbot for his 299th career goal. Minnesota Wild
Minnesota Wild left wing Zach Parise will miss at least two more months after having surgery on his lower back. The Wild announced on Tuesday that Parise underwent a microdiskectomy, a procedure designed to repair a herniated disk and alleviate corresponding pain and weakness in nearby parts of the body. Parise said earlier this month the injury he was dealing with was not to his back, but he declined to specify his issue. Continue to Article

Minnesota Wild
As Mike Russo of the Athletic reported on Monday, Zach Parise of the Minnesota Wild underwent microdiscectomy surgery and is expected to miss the next 8-10 weeks. A herniated disc forced him to miss the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs and then the issue returned just before training camp in September. After starting his career with great health in seven of his first NHL seasons, the injury bug has bit Parise since the 2013-14 campaign. Continue to Article
