With a soaring shot headed for Monument Park, Aaron Judge got New York back on course for another memorable October. Judge ignited a comeback with a home run , then hit a tying double during a four-run eighth inning to spur the unflappable Yankees over the Houston Astros 6-4 Tuesday night and tie the AL Championship Series 2-2. The Baby Bombers trailed 4-0 against starter Lance McCullers Jr. until Judge homered leading off the seventh. Continue to Article

For six innings, Lance McCullers Jr. defied expectations. The Houston Astros opted for McCullers to start Game 4 of the American League Championship Series, almost a pick-em situation between the good-but-not-amazing back-end of their starting rotation. If the eighth inning hadn’t have happened — if the Yankees didn’t stage an unreal comeback, win Game 4 by the score of 6-4 and even the ALCS at two on Tuesday night — the baseball world would be gushing about McCullers and his fantastic performance. It was their key to beating the Indians in the ALDS, and it may very well be the key to them beating the Astros and going to the World Series, if that ends up happening. For most of the game, both teams were locked in a scoreless tie thanks to solid pitching by starters Lance McCullers and Sonny Gray. The former pitched six innings, letting up two hits and a run, and striking out three with only two walks. The only run he allowed was Aaron Judge’s monster home run shot. The latter had an outing that was a tad shorter, going five innings and letting up one hit and two runs. He struck Continue to Article

When young Houston Astros fan Carson Riley reached down from his seat in right field of Minute Maid Park and tried to catch a Carlos Correa homer in his glove during Game 2 of the American League Championship Series, people were quick to make Jeffrey Maier comparisons. The Houston Chronicle’s Matt Young published a riveting tale Tuesday that digs deeper into Riley’s story including why his family was at Saturday’s ALCS Game 2 and how the experience has profoundly affected Carson’s parents. The big reveal is this: Carson’s older brother, Cade, died a month ago in an ATV accident near the family’s home in Liberty Hill, which is about three hours from Houston. Continue to Article
