Rhys Hoskins, who apparently spent the majority of the season while in the minors watching video of Aaron Judge and scoffing, is a Colossus striding the earth right now. On Wednesday night, the Phillies' rookie first baseman bashed his 18th homer of the year—all of which have come in a mere 34 games since he was called up in August. Continue to Article

Rhys Hoskins makes the best cheesesteak in town. "He's creating history," said Cameron Perkins, who approached Hoskins with a ball in the dugout and requested an autograph after the rookie slugger belted his nightly homer in the Phillies' 10-0 demolition of the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park (see observations). Hoskins has been with the Phillies since Aug. 10 for a total of 34 games and 118 at-bats. Continue to Article

Rhys Hoskins makes the best cheesesteak in town. He can run the Rocky steps in three seconds flat then knock out 50 push-ups at the top. One-handed. He can bench press the Liberty Bell, dunk on Joel Embiid and part traffic on the Schuylkill with a simple wave of his hand. He is the most interesting man in Philadelphia. There is nothing he can't do. And, on Thursday night, he became the first player in baseball history to be asked for his autograph in the dugout ... by a teammate ... during the game. "He's creating history," said Cameron Perkins, who approached Hoskins with a ball in the dugout and requested an autograph after the rookie slugger belted his nightly homer in the Phillies' 10-0 demolition Continue to Article

The Phillies are probably going to have to adjust their organizational philosophy on the fly. Because the way they're set up now, "growing the arms and buying the bats" no longer makes sense. That was the organizational philosophy Andy MacPhail brought to the Phillies, and it made sense because nothing can cripple a team worse than a couple albatross contracts to injured pitchers. Think about how bad it got for the Phillies when Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee were making close to $50 million combined to not pitch. But all you have to do now is look at how the Phillies have performed since Rhys Hoskins arrived to realize that offense is no longer the main target. Where would a free-agent position Continue to Article

The Boston Red Sox ejected four people from Fenway Park on Wednesday night after a banner reading “Racism is as American as baseball” was draped over one of the stands. The sign appeared during the middle of the fourth inning of the Red Sox’ 7-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics, according to the The Boston Globe, in the front row of Section Six of the “Monster Seats” positioned behind Fenway Park’s famous “Green Monster” wall. “We want to remind everyone that just as baseball is fundamental to American culture and history, so too is racism.
