The surging Cleveland Indians rolled over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night to pick up their 15th consecutive victory, cementing their status as a primary World Series contender. The streak has been huge for the Indians' postseason hopes. As the reigning American League champions, they faced high expectations heading into this season, but a slow start left them with a 48-45 record through July 19, just a half-game ahead of the Minnesota Twins. It was one of those classic sales gimmicks. Universal Windows Direct, a Cleveland company that does windows, doors, roofs and siding, ran a promotion in July saying it would refund any purchases made that month if the Cleveland Indians won 15 straight games before the end of the season. A win by the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night resulted in a local company rebating customers who spent $1.7 million on window installation, siding, doors and other services. Universal Windows Direct offered a promotion for all of July that any customer who did business with the company would receive a full rebate if the Indians went on a 15-game winning streak any time between Aug. 1 and the end of the season. On Thursday night, Universal Windows co-owners William Barr and Mike Strmac and their customers had a watch party at Progressive Field, as the Indians beat the Chicago White Sox 11-2 in Chicago for their 15th straight win. The Cleveland Indians set a franchise record with their 15th consecutive win Thursday night, beating the Chicago White Sox 11-2 behind another terrific outing for Corey Kluber. Cleveland also belted five homers while becoming the first major league team with a 15-game winning streak since Oakland won 20 in a row in 2002. Edwin Encarnacion hit a three-run drive in the first and Francisco Lindor connected in the second to help the Indians get off to a fast start. Kluber (15-4) struck out 13 in seven innings. Yolmer Sanchez and Jose Abreu homered in the first for Chicago, but Kluber allowed only one more hit for the rest of his outing. Continue to Article

Mike Clevinger and the Indians try to extend their franchise-record winning streak to 16 games when they begin a series against Baltimore. Clevinger (8-5, 3.50 ERA) has delivered a pair of scoreless outings during Cleveland's streak and has perhaps found his footing after an inconsistent start to his big league career. Orioles lefty Wade Miley (8-11, 4.91) will try to slow a lineup that slugged five homers Thursday night against the White Sox. Continue to Article
