Evan Longoria has been with the Tampa Bay Rays for a long time. Longoria loves the Rays, and on Tuesday night he did something for them that had only been done one other time: he hit for the cycle. Longoria smacked a two-run home run to open the scoring in the top of the first inning, added an RBI triple in the third, and singled in the seventh. Needing a double for the cycle in the top of the ninth, Longoria hit a line drive to left field. The last time the Astros allowed a cycle was to the Rangers’ Adrian Beltre on August 3, 2015. There’s no other way to put it, the Houston Astros, the best team in the American League, didn’t do enough Monday as Major League Baseball’s trade deadline passed. The Astros are 69-36, which gives them a 16-game lead in the AL West entering August. The Los Angeles Dodgers have a 14-game lead and that didn’t stop them from making a trade-deadline splash with their acquisition of Yu Darvish. Continue to Article
