Arizona Diamondbacks
Chase Anderson's smile following a near no-hitter barely masked what it meant to perform well against the Diamondbacks franchise that decided to move him. ''I knew those guys as friends, as the team that traded you away,'' Anderson said. Anderson (3-1) took a no-hit bid into the eighth inning as the Milwaukee Brewers snapped Arizona's five-game winning streak with a 6-1 victory on Saturday. Continue to Article

Chase Anderson has a no-hitter through six innings for the Milwaukee Brewers against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. DENVER, CO. - The St. Louis Cardinals have added a fresh arm to their bullpen, today announcing the contract purchase of pitcher John Brebbia from Memphis (AAA). When he appears in a game, Brebbia will be making his Major League debut. In the corresponding roster move, pitcher Miguel Socolovich has been designated for assignment. Pronounced “Breh-be-ah”, the right-hander will turn 27 years old next month. He was selected by the Cardinals from the Arizona Diamondbacks in the Triple-A phase of the Rule V draft in December of 2015. He split the 2016 season between Springfield (AA) and Memphis (AAA). At Memphis, the 6-2, 205-pound reliever was 1-1 with three saves and a 1.69 ERA (26.2 IP) in 15 games Continue to Article

Arizona Diamondbacks
With his Chicago Cubs hovering just over .500, manager Joe Maddon is borrowing inspiration from the Channel 4 news team: new suits! The Cubs will sport ''Anchorman'' themed outfits when they leave Chicago for Los Angeles to begin a road trip that will also take them through San Diego, site of Will Ferrell's comedy about a local news station. There will be plenty of Ron Burgundys and Brian Fantanas on the flight, to be sure, but Maddon had one request: to dress infielder Tommy La Stella as weatherman Brick Tamland. Continue to Article

Arizona Diamondbacks
PHOENIX (AP) - First-year Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo oozes confidence in his team. So far, it's been well-founded. Jake Lamb homered off a left-hander for only the second time this season, five Diamondbacks drove in at least one run and Arizona beat Chicago 8-6 on Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep of the White Sox. The Diamondbacks won for the eighth time in nine games and are 10 games above .500 (29-19) for the first time since 2011. "We understand that we're doing things in a very special way. And something special could happen here," Lovullo said. "We're on the right road, but we've got to continue doing what we've been doing for the first 40 games and take it from there."
