Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals Thread

Philadelphia Phillies
The Washington Nationals take on the Philadelphia Phillies after blowing two late-inning leads in their last four games. Putting things lightly, the Washington Nationals bullpen has been bad through the first six weeks of the season but help is on the way. The duo was splitting the closer role until they each hit the shelf, but their return could provide some stability to the Nats relief corps. Continue to Article

Carter Kieboom, Juan Soto, Erick Fedde and Victor Robles were all on Baseball Americas updated Top 100 prospects list when it was released yesterday. Drafted out of Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia with the 28th pick in the 1st Round of the 2016 draft, 19-year-old infielder Carter Kieboom, brother of Spencer, a 2012 5th Round pick by the Nationals, was described by Washingtons Assistant GM and Vice President of Scouting Operations Kris Kline as a real baseball player with good makeup and a really good feel for the game last June. Kieboom landed at No. 98 on Baseball Americas updated Top 100 Prospects list when it was released this week. Continue to Article

Coming in with a 5.40 ERA and 1.8 HR/9, the Nationals bullpen has ranked among the worst in the majors through the first six weeks of the season. Continue to Article

Philadelphia Phillies
This week's Future Phillies Report begins with J.P. Crawford, who is slowly but surely heating up at Lehigh Valley. SS J.P. Crawford (AAA) Crawford is inching closer to .200 after a dreadful April. He's reached base in all nine games this month to increase his batting average from .145 to .162 and his on-base percentage from .261 to .290. Over his last 12 games, Crawford has hit .244 with a .380 OBP fueled by nine walks.  In an interview Monday with CSN's Marshall Harris, Crawford discussed his adjustment process. He's not big on watching video because he likes to go to the plate with a clear head, but he knew he had to do something after how his April went. A look at some tape from 2015 showed Continue to Article

Washington Nationals
You may have heard, but Adam Eaton tore his ACL on April 28th against the New York Mets. It was a crushing (okay, maybe not crushing, but still pretty bad) blow for the Washington Nationals, who lost a leadoff man they paid dearly for and the spark plug to one of the leagues best offenses. Were anticipating that it should be an ordinary rehab, Nats GM Mike Rizzo said, as quoted by Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post. Continue to Article
