With Bryce Harper coming to the plate with the bases loaded and the Mets clinging to a two-run, ninth-inning lead, New York manager Terry Collins went to the mound and replaced closer Jeurys Familia with left-hander Josh Edgin. ''If we'd have won seven in a row, I probably would have left Jeurys out there, because that's what he's here to do,'' Collins said. Adam Eaton beat out an infield single to load the bases as the Nationals rallied in the ninth, but the Nats center fielder rolled his left ankle on the first base bag and left the game in obvious pain. One minute the Washington Nationals were rallying and threatening to potentially steal another win from the New York Mets, but the crowd, which was whipped into a frenzy by the late-inning comeback attempt fell silent when Adam Eaton fell to the ground beyond first base after hustling down the line for a base-loading infield hit. With runners on first and third and no one out in the ninth, Eaton sent a grounder to short and hustled down the line, beating Asdrubal Cabreras throw to the bag, but he stumbled, stepping awkwardly in front of the bag and crumbled to the ground in obvious pain once he passed the base. WASHINGTON -- Josh Edgin relieved Mets closer Jeurys Familia with the bases loaded in the ninth inning and got Bryce Harper to hit into a game-ending double play, finishing a 7-5 victory over the Washington Nationals on Friday night that stopped New York's six-game losing streak. New York had lost 10 of 11 and put star slugger Yoenis Cespedes on the disabled list before the game with a strained hamstring. The New York Mets placed outfielder Yoenis Cespedes on the 10-day disabled list because of a strained left hamstring. ''They didn't really see a lot,'' manager Terry Collins said of Cespedes' MRI.
