New York Yankees
Chris Carelli, SNY.tv Leadoff hitters are typically a key to a team's success. In the Yankees' case, they've jumped out to an 11-7 record despite left fielder Brett Gardner's incredibly poor start at the plate. Is it too early to look at the future without the Yankees' home grown outfielder and is it too late to receive a good return in a trade? Gardner is hitting .182 with a .318 on-base percentage, .236 slugging percentage and a 68 wRC+ (runs created per plate appearance where 100 is average) in 66 plate appearances on the young season. However, Gardner's troubles go all the way back to the second half of the 2015 season.  The moment Gardner returned from his first All-Star game, he began to Continue to Article

If youre an Orioles fan who wants to get a Trey Mancini or Dylan Bundy t-shirt, this could be for you, but the designs are, uh... uninspired. On Thursday, the Orioles announced a couple of t-shirt giveaways. Trey Mancini gets a t-shirt giveaway on Monday, May 8 against the Nationals and Dylan Bundy gets one on Wednesday, June 21 against the Indians. Continue to Article

The Os have now tied their second best start in franchise history through 20 games. Considering their current offensive slump, its been quite a start for a team that was expected to once again rely heavily on their bats. Which will come in handy for when Jeter, who bid $1.3 billion for Major League Baseball’s Florida Marlins on Tuesday, loses his shirt on the deal. There’s an element of kidding in this — Jeter surely has plenty socked away — but it’s hard to miss the juxtaposition of the you-can’t-afford-this bid led by Jeter and former presidential candidate Jeb Bush and the decision Wednesday at Walt Disney Co.’s DIS, +0.35%   ESPN, whose rights fees support skyrocketing wages of professional athletes and franchise values of team owners, to lay off 100 staffers, including about 50 on-air and online talents. Baltimore Orioles
BALTIMORE  -- First, Seth Smith circled the bases on a single. Then, much later in a very strange game, he drove in the winning run without lifting the bat off his shoulder. Smith drew a bases-loaded, four-pitch walk from Danny Farquhar to force in the deciding run with two outs in the 11th inning, and the Baltimore Orioles rallied to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 on Wednesday night. The 4-hour, 8-minute contest featured a play more appropriate for the Little League -- or the Big Top. The wacky sequence began when Smith singled with Ryan Flaherty on first. After Kevin Kiermaier threw wildly to third base from center field, starting pitcher Alex Cobb retrieved the ball near the Tampa Bay dugout. Continue to Article
