There's usually little need to try to create hype for one of the Texas Showdown games between the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs, but this year the rivalry, if possible, has become even more heated because of the lofty position among the top teams in the NBA. The Rockets and Spurs meet for the fourth time this season on Monday at the AT&T Center in San Antonio in a game between the squads with the second- and third-best records in the NBA and the Western Conference. The NBA's record-setting 79th triple-double of the season came from an unexpected quarter as Spain's Ricky Rubio registered 11 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in Minnesota's overtime loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night. The previous league-wide season high for reaching double digits in three statistical categories in a single game was 78 set in 1988-89 -- a mark that looks to be left in the dust with nearly six weeks remaining this season. The No. 8 playoff seed in the Western Conference is within reach for both the Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers. When Minnesota hosts Portland on Monday in Minneapolis, the Wolves will sit 1.5 games behind the Blazers in the standings. Kawhi Leonard scored 34 points and the San Antonio Spurs shrugged off a listless start to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 97-90 in overtime and clinch a NBA playoff spot. Leonard led his team to their second straight overtime victory in as many days as the Spurs booked their 20th consecutive post-season berth.
