Junior forward Emmitt Holt had a career-high 22 points in his Providence debut, Rodney Bullock hit three 3-pointers and finished with 18 points and the Friars shot 62.5 percent in the second half to beat Vermont 80-58 on Monday night. Holt, a junior college transfer who started his college career at Indiana, made 8 of 12 from the field and had three blocked shots. Florida freshman center Gorjok Gak has been ruled eligible and will be available for the season opener Friday night. The NCAA ruled the 6-foot-11 Gak ineligible in the summer due to questions about the number of games he played at Victory Rock Prep in Bradenton after arriving from Australia. The NCAA said Gak could enroll at Florida for his freshman year and practice with the team, but he would not be eligible to compete until his sophomore season and would have three years of eligibility. Having graduated leading scorer Shavon Shields and lost co-star Andrew White III via transfer, Nebraska will rely heavily on senior guard Tai Webster and an unproven collection of freshmen and sophomores. The Gators announced Tuesday that the NCAA cleared Gak for enrollment this fall but denied his ineligibility for the 2016-17 season.
