James Paxton was perfect through five innings against the Houston Astros on Saturday night. Paxton gave up two runs in the sixth and the Mariners weren't able to capitalize on late chances in a 2-1 loss. Yuli Gurriel hit a two-run single and Mike Fiers pitched six scoreless innings to lead the Houston Astros to a 2-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday night. Fiers gave up singles to the first two batters he faced, but allowed only one more hit. Taillon pitched five innings and singled to drive in a big league run for the first time, leading the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Cincinnati Reds 10-4 Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader. Andrew McCutchen drove in three runs for the Pirates, who opened the day with a 5 1/2-game gap and three teams to overcome in order to get a wild card berth.
