Chicago Blackhawks
In the second period of their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night, Teuvo Teravainen of the Chicago Blackhawks attempted the skate the puck out of his own zone.  Instead, he lost it to Nick Spaling. Alone. In the slot, Facing a wide-open net. Goalie Scott Darling saw this unfolding, and leaned back to his left. He lunged with his glove, stretching his body across the crease. And he snagged the puck for one of the best saves of the NHL season. Here's another look at the save: Said Darling, on his save, via Chris Hine: "Desperate times call for desperate measures." Well, not that desperate. The Blackhawks were up 3-0 at the time; they went on to win 7-2, with Patrick Kane getting a goal and three assists.  -- Greg Wyshynski  is a writer for Yahoo Sports. "We'll be dealing with it internally, but he will not be playing in Ottawa. I'm disappointed." - - The Tampa Bay Lightning put out a statement stating captain Steven Stamkos will not be traded prior to the NHL trade deadline. ... Continue to Article

Outstanding goaltending and defense made the New Jersey Devils a perennial playoff participant during the previous two decades. The surging Devils vie for a fourth straight win and second over the Philadelphia Flyers in four days when the longtime rivals face off Tuesday night. In a season where it's averaging an NHL-low 2.19 goals, New Jersey (29-21-7) is right in the playoff mix by being the league's stingiest team. Continue to Article
