Buffalo Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres will try to continue their high-scoring ways this week but haven't fared well in recent road games. Buffalo (23-28-6) scored 10 goals in back-to-back home victories and had three in the opening period of a 4-1 win over Colorado on Sunday. Jack Eichel found the net 2:02 into the game to end a six-game drought, and Evander Kane tallied his sixth in eight contests. Continue to Article

Buffalo Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres will sit winger Evander Kane for the team’s Tuesday game against the Ottawa Senators for oversleeping Monday and missing practice. Buffalo coach Dan Bylsma said Kane called him and general manager Tim Murray to let them know he wouldn’t make practice.  The Sabres said he broke a team rule. “I’m disappointed,” Bylsma said .  “He could’ve made it to the game just fine and made it back.” Kane’s Instagram page showed that he was at the NBA’s All-Star Game in Toronto with his younger sister on Sunday. The game started at 8 p.m. eastern time. Buffalo is about 100 miles from Toronto. Kane’s snapchat account  reportedly showed more provocative pics from the weekend, but has since been cut down. Kane was also healthy scratch last season with the Winnipeg Jets for a dress code violation, where he wore a track suit to a team meeting. Kane eventually had shoulder surgery and was traded to the Sabres. He is currently the subject of a sex offense investigation where Kane has said he did “nothing wrong.” Last season, Murray said , “I’m not worried about his character” after making the trade for Kane. Said Sabres captain Brian Gionta last year, “It’s a clean slate. Nobody knows the situation that’s happened in the past. Coming in, he’s going to be accepted and brought into the room. … He’ll be treated like everybody else.” Kane has 16 goals and eight assists in 47 games with the Sabres this season. Buffalo Sabres
Hockey earned the number one play of the night Sunday on SportsCenter thanks to Toledo Walleye goaltender Jeff Lerg.  During a 3-2 shootout win over the Fort Wayne Komets, Lerg made 37 stops, including this save of the year stop in overtime that Garrett Meurs will be seeing in his dreams for a while.  Via BCSN Sports: Change the Walleye jerseys to that of the late 1990's Buffalo Sabres and you’d have Dominik Hasek right there. "I knew I had to play it like he was going to shoot it right off the bat and I committed to make that initial save, and then it was a desperation type play swinging my glove back behind me,” Lerg said via the Toledo Blade .  “Honestly, I didn’t feel it hit me so I was nervous at first. But I then I heard the crowd. It felt good to make that save.”  Stick-tap Eye on Hockey - - - - - - - Sean Leahy is the associate editor for Puck Daddy on Yahoo Sports. Have a tip? Buffalo Sabres
Getting another crack at his former team, O'Reilly tries to help the Sabres avoid an 11th consecutive defeat to an Avalanche club that can complete a sweep of its three-game trip Sunday. Deciding it would cost too much to sign O'Reilly to a long-term contract extension after six seasons in Denver, Colorado sent the talented forward to Buffalo in a five-player deal over the summer. The Sabres then signed him to a seven-year, $52.5 million contract. Continue to Article
