Alex Ovechkin has validated his decision to rest during the All Star Break and returned on a tear that has taken the Washington Capitals forward to the top of the goal-scoring race. It is hard to argue with the results, however, as Ovechkin has returned to the ice with a vengeance, scoring in all but one of his post break games. Patrick Eaves and the Dallas Stars put together an impressive response to their ugly home loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. Commissioner Scott Butera says the Arena Football League is in ''serious negotiations'' with Ted Leonsis' Monumental Sports & Entertainment about bringing a team to Washington. Butera confirmed a Washington Post report that the Arena Football League had a strong interest in the Washington area and is in talks with Monumental.
