One of the greatest joys of Don Cherry's career was coaching Bobby Orr and the Boston Bruins legend came to his former boss' defence once again on Thursday. Cherry was fired by Sportsnet on Monday after making an anti-immigrant rant during Saturday's broadcast, then refusing to apologize. Orr stated his vehement opposition to Cherry's dismissal Thursday during a radio appearance on WEEI's Ordway, Merloni and Fauria. Continue to Article

So it will be a little different for the 2016 first-round pick when the 21-year-old Frederic gets back into the B's lineup on Friday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs as a physical left winger based on Boston's need for healthy bodies up front. Frederic skated on the left side with Par Lindholm and Danton Heinen on a makeshift third line at Thursday's practice at Warrior Ice Arena. Kakko may find himself on the Rangers' third line, but he's patrolling the first power play and should eventually move up the depth chart based on recent efforts. Continue to Article

A pair of resilient teams will meet Thursday night when the Winnipeg Jets visit the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Fla. The Panthers, who will be starting a four-game homestand, showed what they are made of when they rallied from a 4-0, third-period deficit at the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, prevailing 5-4 on shootout goals by Vincent Trocheck and Mike Hoffman. It was the first time in franchise history that the Panthers won after trailing by at least four goals. Continue to Article

Mike Hoffman scored the game-winning goal in the shootout as the Florida Panthers rallied from four goals down in the third period to stun the host Boston Bruins 5-4 Tuesday night. Keith Yandle tied the score with 1:39 remaining in regulation, and Aaron Ekblad, Frank Vatrano and Hoffman also scored in the third as the Panthers won their second straight in a shootout. Sam Montembeault made 15 saves between the third period and overtime after taking over for an ineffective Sergei Bobrovsky. Continue to Article
