New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball will not play against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night after sustaining a right adductor strain, the team announced. Ball initially was injured in a Nov. 2 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but said he played through the pain when the Pelicans faced the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. Kyle Lowry suffered a fractured thumb and Serge Ibaka sustained an ankle injury in the Toronto Raptors' 122-104 road win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Friday's victory, secured after a superb 44-point showing from in-form Pascal Siakam that matched his career high, came at a cost for the defending NBA champions, who moved to 6-2 for the season. When the defense settled in, Siakam went to work on the block and cooked every single player the Pelicans put on him. For the life of me I don't understand why the Pelicans didn't send triple teams, especially since the Raptors were shorthanded, but Siakam capitalized and matched his career-high with 44 points.
